The nodes, Rahu and Ketu, are often referred to as shadow planets and are associated with the lunar eclipse points.
In addition to these, there are two shadow planets known as Upagrahas—Gulika and Mandi—that are considered in certain calculations.
The positions, aspects, and conjunctions of these planets in an individual’s birth chart (Janma Kundali) influence various aspects of life, including personality, career, relationships, and spiritual growth. The study of these planetary influences, along with the 12 houses and 12 signs, forms the foundation of Vedic astrology.
